Spring is here, and summer is right around the corner, which means it is almost time to bust out the bikini. Many women may be “pinching” areas of the body and noticing that they have packed on additional weight over the last year. Wearing summer fashions such as bathing suits or shorts can be unflattering when they are a little “snug” around the waistline. Even with diet and exercise, some areas of the body are difficult to target. Plastic surgery procedures such as liposuction or Liposonix® are options for patients who are healthy and have tried traditional weight loss methods with little to no success. They can gain the confidence they need to show off their curves when walking along the beach or hanging by the pool.

Liposuction vs. Liposonix®

Dr. Wilson can perform two different procedures for fat removal: liposuction or Liposonix®. He can help patients decide on the right procedure for them and their preferences.

Before and After Liposuction SurgeryLiposuction Surgery

Liposuction involves the surgical removal of fat to provide a leaner, more defined body. A vacuum device is utilized to suction the fat from the body. Dr. Wilson uses VASERLipo® to remove higher concentrations of fat from around the major muscle areas. Women who want to “slip” into their bikini easier commonly have the abdomen, flanks, hips, and thighs addressed during liposuction surgery. Liposuction involves some swelling and bruising that will subside gradually over the first few weeks. A woman can improve her overall physique with a slimmer, more sculpted body.

Liposonix®

Liposonix® is the latest non-invasive fat reduction procedure available to patients who can’t lose those last few inches that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. Using high-intensity focused ultrasound technology, Liposonix® works by heating and destroying the fat cells. It can be used on any area below the neck. In comparison to liposuction surgery, recovery with Liposonix® is minimal, and there are no surgical wounds involved. Although patients will notice a difference in the contours of their body, full results take eight to 12 weeks to develop.

Which Procedure Is Right for Me?

Both liposuction and Liposonix® are not to be treated as weight loss solutions but simply to sculpt and shape the body by removing stubborn pockets of fat. Typically, liposuction surgery is best for patients who need a more significant amount of fat removed. Liposonix® is ideal for patients who have small areas to target. It is important that patients are at or near their ideal body weight and plan to maintain results with a nutritious diet and exercise regimen.

Liposuction and Liposonix® are not only limited to women. Male patients who want to get beach ready and are interested in liposuction and body contouring can also benefit from one of our procedures.
