Is EarWell™ Safe for My Baby?

EarWell™

EarWell™ Infant Ear Correction by Dr. WilsonAt first, the idea of placing a mold over an infant’s ears to change the ear shape may sound drastic and even undesirable for a parent. However, this is precisely how the EarWell™ Infant Ear Correction System works, and the results are safe and successful. Everyone has known a child with overly large or deformed ears, and it is likely that the child has been ridiculed because of their ears. Most of the ear deformities that plague children are present at birth. It is estimated that up to 30 percent of infants are born with some type of ear deformity. While some of these deformities subside naturally and over time, other deformities do not, which causes the child unnecessary emotional distress.

EarWell™ is a revolutionary, non-invasive procedure that can correct infant ear deformities in the first weeks of their life; when addressed early enough, EarWell™ can provide a permanent correction.

What Is EarWell™?

The EarWell™ Infant Ear Correction System is an applicator that can mold ear cartilage when applied during the first weeks after your child’s birth. This applicator consists of four parts: an outer shell that fits over the ear and adheres to the skin, a retractor that shapes the rim of the ear, a conchal form that develops the center of the ear, and a piece that holds all the other parts together. When applied to an infant during the first week after birth, this system only needs to be worn for one to two weeks; when administered between the first and sixth week after birth, the EarWell™ system typically needs to be worn for four to six weeks. Results are immediate and can last a lifetime.

What Are the Benefits of EarWell™?

Benefits of the EarWell™ system are vast. By choosing to have your child wear something for the first few weeks of their life, you are potentially sparing them from confidence-damaging ridicule later in life. Before EarWell™, children with ear deformities would have to wait until they were at least five years old to undergo corrective ear surgery (known as otoplasty). While otoplasty provides successful results, it’s still surgery; therefore, the possible complications and discomfort of surgery are present. However, EarWell™ is non-surgical, non-invasive, and not painful. Additionally, since the children are young, they don’t even realize they’re wearing the applicator.

Are There Any Potential Complications?

Because it is non-invasive, there is no chance of complications with this system. It is safe and in studies has been proven to be over 90 percent successful. The only downside is that the EarWell™ system will only be successful if used within the first six weeks of your child’s life, as it takes advantage of the malleability of an infant’s ear cartilage. After that time period, the cartilage is too well-developed to be reformed.

With EarWell™, there is no need to worry about your child’s ears in the future.
